Batch & Continuous Processing

As manufacturers and rebuilders improve production processes, the requirements for parts cleaning continue to escalate. Choosing the best parts cleaner for your application depends on the production process, part volume and size, part contamination, and safety. Fortunately, there are parts cleaners that can accommodate batch or continuous operations and meet production timelines and specifications.

Continuous systems can use a single cleaning process or a combination of processes including spray, immersion, and ultrasonic.

Batch Processing

For low part volumes, industries use manual parts washers, which require operators to manually clean and rinse parts with solvent. The operator cleans batches of parts within the sink of the manual parts washer. Operators must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when using volatile organic solvents.

For larger volumes and large part sizes, industries use automatic parts washers to prepare and clean parts in batch operations. Automatic parts washers use a range of cleaning techniques such as spray, immersion, and ultrasonic to remove part contamination. The automatic/batch parts washers completely contain the parts and solvents during the cleaning cycle and many systems use aqueous chemistries and heated cleaning cycles. To begin, operators load the cleaning system with parts and initiate the cleaning cycle. After a timed interval, the operators remove the clean parts and the system is ready for the next batch of contaminated parts.

Continuous Processing

For continuous processing, cleaning equipment manufacturers design custom, cleaning systems for a customer. The systems use automated cleaning techniques that integrate with the production line and deliver clean and prepared parts for the next operation. Continuous systems can use a single cleaning process or a combination of processes including spray, immersion, and ultrasonic.
